Coclchicum ‘Giant’- fall flowering bulb

I order 10 x  Colchicum ‘giant’ bulbs from Brent and Becky’s bulbs out of Gloucester, Virginia. Within two days of planting them they were up and blooming. This is the second week. I wish I had ordered more. They are also called “Pink Ladies.” I am slowly developing a woodland garden walk and I think these look great coming up in high grass.

Will they return next fall? I love the idea of a whole new kind of garden, especially for us older folks: no-mow, no cultivate. Just lovely things that survive and bloom amidst weeds and grass.

      Hi Marjorie,
Yes colchicums not only return each fall but they naturalize- which means they increase in numbers over the years. I find mine are bumping up against the wild asters. They do like to be in shade and the blooms will last much longer if they are out of direct light.
