Outside
A light coating of snow reveals an intricate pattern on the old dry stone wall and Abies Concolor’s blue evergreen branches. This is the season of pattern.
The colors outside are muted gray, blue, straw and dull red.
The Black Angus cattle huddle near a stand of trees out of the cold wind.
Cut hellebore flowers that came into flower on a warm day. The waxy white blooms last for weeks in a vase of water. On window sills potted amaryllises and narcissi are about to bloom. Every couple of weeks I plant a couple more bulbs to keep the color coming throughout this simpler season.
